A few people have asked me how to draw fur, so here are my basics: First, I use a light color, either white or cream, and make a base layer. then I start drawing in the fur, using strokes that are the length of the fur. Remember to ALWAYS make your strokes in the direction that the fur is going. Now LAYER different but similar colors and keep doing the same "fur" strokes, filling in the places that have not been covered. Do this for many many layers. My own pieces have up to 50 layers, so layers are your friends. Then take an X-acto knife and add highlights to the fur in light strokes. This should bring out that light bottom layer that you did. If not, use a sharp light pencil over those marks to highlight, especially the tips.

30your art work is really amazing
Corrina, I am so sorry to hear about your health problems. You would be amazed at the number of artist on this web site who have health problems of one kind or another. I guess art is an escape from daily problems and a boost to mental health. It helps me with my depression although for a while after my daughter died I could not draw or paint. But, now I am better. I hope you are better soon.
Thanks for your comment on my Sunflowers
I just found the comment you left me about my homemade tortillion stumps... thanks, I do use the store bought ones. As a mater of fact, I have used everyone known to man (and women). The smaller ones are a valuable tool in my arsenal of application devices. For large areas I still perfer my ready rolls... thank you for your help and again, I apologize for not responding sooner. (I think prismacolor hides this stuff from me)
Write a comment..Thank you, that does help. I think I have just been layering it on too thick and would never have thought about the white between layers. Thanks again!.
