In order to improve, it's good to paint big and get out of our comfort zones. The biggest piece I've done is a full sheet of Canson paper, "Bear", 20"x26" which isn't huge when you think about it. But it definitely got me to think bigger. Another advantage is, it will tighten up and look better from farther away and look amazing in print. And of course it also gives us more opportunities to make all that detail we love so much.
The key to a good painting is a good drawing. I will sit with my drawing a few days to make sure my measurements look right. I check angles, proportion and shapes. And before all that, I work out any problems in my sketchbook; making as many thumbnails as I need. And to tighten up my drawing skills, I only use pen and ink in my sketchbook.

Your portfolio is amazing! Unbelievable drawings.
Jason you have a terrific skill with CP. The amount of realism you obtain is just incredible! Are you a member of the CPSA and/or the Realism Guild? If not you should be. Also, are you in a gallery somewhere and do you have a web sit?
