Color pencil blending.

I never had much success with the colorless blenders. I make my own by tightly rolling toilet paper and taping it up. You can roll them with pointy tips or blunt, whatever your needs. I also find it easier to blend multiple stubborn layers by adding a little linseed oil to the end of the blender stick. If you use a Strathmore or a Cranson 100% rag paper it will easily take the oil and the abuse of vigorous rubbing. When you roll your toilet paper take about 8-10 pieces, fold that in half then in half again until you get a square then roll that... Hope this helps... Good luck!

Charcoal application

When I use charcoal, I sand it on a sanding board and apply it with various blending sticks I make from toilet paper. some sticks are wide and blunt and some are twisted to a fine point. For real tight spots, I use a match (not the hot end). My pencil never touches the paper. Hope this helps someone...

You sir also have no problem seeing what you look at. Thanks.

Thanks for the comment on my drawing! Kenny

Thank you for your comments. Your work is amazing too. Your talent really shows through in all your work.

You are very welcome and thank you for you compliment on my ability! I am also impressed with you architectural paintings.

Thank you for the words, sir. And you're right, if I didn't just walk away at some point, I'd probably over-work everything I touched. haha. Great job on your newest piece, by the way (I'm in love with row houses).

Understandable. I have to write everything down about each piece or I'd never be able to remember. Again, love your work.

Thanks for the comment on my drawing of the Viet Nam memorial. It is in the Milicent Roger's miniature show in Taos. Kenny

Thanks for the comment on my pencil drawing. Yes, ebony pencils are fabulous! I also like to use 9B solid graphite. Kenny

Whoa! Your work is absolutely amazing! Thanks for commenting on Pleading. I haven't tried the ebony pencils but will look for them. Thanks for the tip! :)

You Said: Beautiful...I'm a huge fan of black and white... if there could only be one device for drawing, it would be an ebony pencil and I could easily live with that! I say: I couldn't agree more. :)
