I use my white and light colors first, then progress with darker colors in my art. Sometimes place a protective paper on top of light areas to protect when adding darker pigments onto the piece. I find I get crisper brighter colors with this technique. When I don't do this, colors get duller and smudged. I also love Strathmore Bristol paper. Cheers to more coloring!
