Tip & Technique Request...

I see a great deal of tips for colored pencils, pastels, and sketch pencils, but not so many for the double ended markers. I would like to encourage any others whose favorite medium is markers (like me) to share any tips and advice you may have.

Avoid Streaking

To avoid streaking (the overlap lines you sometimes get when coloring with markers) it helps to go over the area you're coloring a second time. This will darken the color a bit, but I've noticed that colors tend to lighten a bit when they dry. This also helps when blending shades. The only thing to be careful of is bleeding. You have to watch your edges so you don't bleed over your lines.

They are called conte crayons....kinda like a dense charcoal, but I like it better because once rubbed in it doesn't rub off as easy as charcoal & when drawing on newsprint it feels richer & smoother.

Hey max, thanks for the comments, as far as the paper I use regular old 50 lb sketch paper. Canson biggie I think, I don't have it in front of me. But the reason I use such thin paper is so it allows the markers to fully saturate the paper with a base color, then you can go in and work wet on wet with the darker tones for smooth shading. after it dries you can do the hard shadows. also the thinner paper doesn't soak up so much marker ink! cheers!

That was very kind of you to say that about Devin The Teen! I appreciate it very much. Peg
